What is Wii Fit?

Wii Fit is a fun way of getting fit AND having some fun. Everyone, young and old, friends and family, can have a go at playing Wii Fit. And by just doing a little every day, you can all work towards personal goals of better health and fitness.

If you tried the fun-packed Wii Sports and enjoyed it, you’ll just love the Wii Fit experience. Using your whole body, you’ll face fun, dynamic and challenging activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and balance oriented games.

The basis of all these activities focuses around the popular and effective exercise method of a "core" workout that encourages slower, controlled motions - that’s why is great for all ages. And if you’ve struggled to make exercise part of your routine up to now, just wait until you’ve tried Wii Fit - you’ll have so much fun using it that you’ll be hooked on fitness for years to come!

The Balance Board
The Wii Balance Board is the main accessory in Wii Fit and is used in lots of ways to turn you from a couch potato into a budding athlete! This rectangular, pressure-sensitive platform is about the size of bathroom scales and records your every movement, bringing them to life on screen. You use it to do strength, balance and yoga exercises, as well as helping you record your progress at every stage. So one minute you’ll be snowboarding down a mountain and the next, walking on a tight rope – there’s just so many ways of having terrific fun!

Check Your Progress

You can monitor your daily progress in Wii Fit with easy-to-understand data and charts. You start by calculating your BMI (Body Mass Index) then you check against this initial value so it's easy to tell how you've done since you started using Wii Fit. You can also check your Wii Fit Age, set goals and even include exercise you've done outside of Wii Fit.

Improve Your Balance

Wii Fit can help you learn more about your balance, and gives you tips on how to improve it. Having a good posture is very important to ensure you don’t put unnecessary strain on particular parts of your body. There are nine balancing games which provide great fun for those who like to have fun without working out too hard! These include the Penguin Slide where you become a penguin and have to move yourself onto an iceberg in order to catch some fish – there’s so many other crazy feats!

Try It Out!

When you start Wii Fit, you can create a profile and create a ‘Mii’ – a virtual character to look like you on the screen. However, if you just want to have a quick go at one of the 15 fun exercises, or if a friend pops round for a try-out, there’s a Trial mode which avoids the need to create a new profile. So however you want to use the Wii Fit, you can soon get into the action.

Wii Fit Channel

The Wii Fit allows you to install an interactive channel in the Wii Menu so that you can perform a Body Test or view your progress chart without needing the Wii Fit disk in the console. So, if you have another Wii game in your Wii console, you can still check your weight using the Wii Fit Channel without having to switch disks.
